Air Peace has offered lawyer and human rights activist Inibehe Effiong a 25 per cent discount on a one-way ticket on its domestic routes following a delayed Lagos-Enugu flight, in line with a directive from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
Effiong disclosed the development on Wednesday through a post on his X account, where he also shared an email from the airline’s call centre.
In the email, Air Peace apologised for the disruption of flight P47100 from Lagos to Enugu on September 21, 2026, and approved a discounted ticket, exclusive of tax, as compensation for the inconvenience caused.
“To claim the ticket, please send an email to callcenter@flyairpeace.com with your old booking reference, scanned copy of your travel passport, and details of your new flight itinerary (route, date and time),” the airline stated.
The airline said the offer would remain valid for six months from the date of the email, except for the period between December 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027.
The compensation followed an NCAA directive issued after a preliminary investigation found that Air Peace had sent affected passengers an incorrect notification ahead of the flight, which was scheduled to leave Lagos for Enugu at 6:45am on Monday.

Effiong had earlier criticised the airline after arriving at Terminal One of the Murtala Muhammed Airport around 5:50am for the flight. He said passengers were initially asked to wait before the departure was eventually pushed to 4:50pm.
According to him, the prolonged disruption resulted in him missing a scheduled court appearance in Enugu State.
The NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, later said the delay resulted from a ripple effect of an earlier disruption on Sunday night. He directed Air Peace to compensate the affected passengers in accordance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
However, Effiong said the compensation did not resolve what he described as a wider problem with the airline’s service.
“This modest effort by Air Peace to assuage me and other aggrieved passengers should not detract from the fundamental issue, namely: the perennial lackluster, arrogant and frustrating attitude of the company,” he said, in a post on X
While commending Achimugu and the NCAA for their prompt intervention, Effiong called for stronger regulations to safeguard the interests of air passengers.
“While the swift response of Mike Achimugu and NCAA in this case are commendable, there is no doubt that we need a stiffer and stronger regulatory framework in the aviation industry to protect the rights of air passengers,” he said.
