Nigerian forward Akor Adams marked a dramatic return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a stunning brace, coming off the bench to rescue a 2–2 draw for Sevilla against Elche on Monday night.
Elche looked set for a comfortable home victory after taking a two-goal lead in the contest.
Febas A. opened the scoring in the 14th minute to put the hosts ahead, before Valera G. doubled the advantage in the 55th minute, sending the home fans into celebration.
However, the introduction of Adams shortly after halftime changed the complexion of the game.
The Sevilla striker was brought on in the 46th minute and quickly injected pace, power and urgency into the visitors’ attack.
His impact paid off in the 75th minute when he found the back of the net to reduce the deficit and give Sevilla renewed hope.

As Elche struggled to contain Sevilla’s late pressure, Adams struck again deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 90+2nd minute to complete his brace and secure a share of the spoils.
The match ended 2–2 at the Estadio Martínez Valero, with Adams’ heroics ensuring Sevilla avoided defeat.
The brace underlined the Nigerian’s importance to the Andalusian side and served as a strong statement on his return from international duty at AFCON 2025.
For Sevilla, the result felt like a victory after a sluggish start, while Elche were left to rue a missed opportunity after letting a two-goal lead slip late in the game.
