Alia, Umahi Launch Wurukum Flyover Project in Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, joined by the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, on Saturday, the 13th of September, 2025, flagged off the construction of a major flyover at Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi.

The project comes after the removal of the popular Food Basket monument at the intersection, which the state government explained was taken down to allow for the new development.

At the event, Governor Alia described the flyover as a “landmark investment to decongest traffic, boost commerce and enhance ithe capital’s aesthetics.”

He assured residents that the collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works would ensure timely completion and deliver “lasting economic benefits to Benue residents.”
