Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the sale, lease, and handling of state-owned assets, companies, markets, and non-functional industries, the inauguration took place on Thursday, the 21st of August, 2025, in Makurdi.
The panel is chaired by retired Justice Samson Itodo, who was officially sworn in at the Exco Extension Hall of the Government House.
On the same occasion, Barrister Moses Atagher also took his oath of office as the Governor’s Chief of Staff.
While addressing the gathering, Governor Alia reminded the commission of the weight of its duty, stressing that fairness and transparency must guide their work.

“This responsibility demands firmness, honesty, and a commitment to justice in the overall interest of the people of Benue,” he said.
Justice Itodo, in his remarks, promised to execute the task without bias.
He recalled his previous experience in a similar assignment earlier this year and assured that the panel would operate with full dedication and openness.
