Meta Strikes $10 Billion Cloud Deal With Google to Power AI Push

Meta Platforms has entered a cloud partnership with Google worth more than $10 billion, a move aimed at expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities and scaling infrastructure to meet growing demand.

The agreement, confirmed on August 21, 2025, is structured as a six-year deal and marks one of the largest cloud contracts ever signed by Google.

Under the terms, Meta will tap into Google Cloud’s infrastructure services, including computing power, networking, and storage, to support its artificial intelligence workloads.

The deal comes as Meta deepens investment in artificial intelligence, even while building its own data centers.

Earlier in July, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg disclosed that the company plans to spend “hundreds of billions of dollars” over the next decade on AI data centers, raising annual capital expenditure guidance to between $66 billion and $72 billion.

By adding Google to its multi-cloud strategy, Meta joins other large technology firms seeking to spread computing demands across several providers.

The company already works with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, and CoreWeave.

For Google, the agreement represents a significant win in the race to supply AI-specific infrastructure. The company has been positioning its custom hardware, including Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), and its Vertex AI platform as key offerings for enterprises training and deploying large-scale models.

Industry analysts view the partnership as a sign of escalating demand for AI computing resources that exceed the capacity of single-provider or in-house systems.

It also underscores a broader shift in the cloud market, where the ability to deliver specialized infrastructure for artificial intelligence is becoming a critical competitive advantage.

The deal follows a similar arrangement Google reached earlier this year with OpenAI, strengthening its push to secure long-term commitments from major players in artificial intelligence.
