Despite Prince William taking on a growing number of duties to assist his father, King Charles III, the throne is not about to be handed over.
The British monarch, who is privately battling a form of cancer, continues to carry out his role with the support of his son.
According to royal expert Hilary Fordwich, Prince William’s increased responsibilities are part of a plan to alleviate the King’s workload as he undergoes treatment.
Speaking to Fox News, Fordwich reflected on the last royal abdication, which caused a significant crisis in the UK a scenario the royal family would be eager to avoid.

Fordwich explained: “Prince William has been taking on more duties, and preparations for further transitions of responsibility are underway. Both Prince William and Princess Catherine are diligently preparing to step into their roles as future king and queen, but there is no rush for an immediate ascension.”
She emphasized that the royal family is focused on maintaining the stability of the monarchy, favouring a gradual transition over any sudden moves.
“The idea of abdication would mark a dramatic break from tradition,” she concluded.
