A distressed Nigerian lady has taken to social media, issuing a desperate plea for justice after alleging that a police officer stabbed her father with a knife inside their family home in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Videos detailing the incident and its aftermath are currently circulating online.

In her recorded account, the lady claims the violent encounter stemmed from a simple argument between her younger brother and a female classmate.

According to her narrative, the classmate involved her boyfriend, leading to two police officers arriving at the family’s residence intending to make an arrest.

The younger brother was reportedly not home, prompting the officers to confront his elder brother. An argument ensued, during which one officer allegedly began physically assaulting the elder brother.

The commotion brought the father out of his room to intervene and question the officers’ actions.

At this point, the lady alleges, the second police officer unexpectedly produced a knife and stabbed her father. She stated the blow was aimed at his belly but was partially deflected by her father’s hand, resulting in a severe hand injury instead.

The videos show the father purportedly lying injured in a hospital bed. The daughter expressed profound dismay and frustration, alleging that despite the severity of the attack, the accused officer – whom she identifies as a personal orderly to a local chairman – remains free. She claims authorities informed her that procedures must be followed before arresting or dismissing a police officer.

“They are doing absolutely nothing because they said he is a police officer, they don’t just arrest a police officer like that,” she lamented in one video clip, contrasting this with the likely immediate detention of a civilian under similar circumstances.

She further alleged that the officer in question has a history of problematic behaviour within the community.

The lady questioned the justification for a police officer carrying and using a knife against a civilian, challenging the notion of police being protectors.

In footage apparently recorded at the police station, she confronts an officer, accusing him of the stabbing, noting his apparent lack of remorse, and vowing to pursue his dismissal.

She described the incident as a “terrible injustice” and an attempt on her father’s life, expressing a loss of trust in law enforcement.

Through her posts, she made direct appeals to higher authorities, including President Bola Tinubu and the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, as well as the general public, urging them to intervene and ensure justice is served for her father.

“Please come through for us and serve justice,” she pleaded.
