Nigeria’s sprint hurdler, Tobi Amusan, delivered another stunning performance on Thursday after clocking the fastest women’s 100m hurdles heat in Commonwealth Games history to secure her place in the final.
The world-class hurdler raced to a wind-assisted time of 12.19 seconds (+3.8m/s), comfortably winning her heat and setting a new benchmark for the event’s qualifying rounds.
Amusan finished well ahead of South Africa’s Marione Fourie, who crossed the line in 12.50 seconds, while Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill claimed third place with a time of 12.69 seconds.

Although the strong tailwind means the time will not count for record purposes, Amusan’s dominant display underlined her status as one of the favourites for the gold medal.
The Nigerian star will now head into the final full of confidence as she bids to add another major international title to her impressive career.
