The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday. He disclosed that operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area in the early hours of September 24, 2025, and apprehended the suspects.
The four men, identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam, and Onyebuchi Udemba, are aged between 22 and 40.
According to Ikenga, items recovered during the operation included one pump-action gun and a black Toyota Camry with registration number SMK 835 FC.
While the suspects are still undergoing interrogation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reiterated the Command’s determination to rid the state of criminals. He also urged residents to provide timely and accurate information to support police operations.

Ikenga added that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
This arrest follows an earlier operation on September 2, 2025, during which the Command apprehended four suspects linked to armed robbery and kidnapping activities in Amansea and Awka. At that time, police recovered two pump-action guns and nine live cartridges, while the suspects reportedly confessed to kidnapping two victims in August and collecting a ₦5 million ransom before releasing them.
The police have assured residents that ongoing operations will continue to dismantle criminal networks across Anambra State.
