“Anarchist”: Rivers APC Slams Sowore Over Attacks on Tinubu, Wike

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a hard swing at Omoyele Sowore, accusing the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate of spreading lies and stoking unrest with his recent remarks about President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

In a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, September 24, the party’s state chairman, Tony Okocha, said Sowore’s comments were reckless and dangerous.

“Attempting to incite Nigerians against the government with the crudity of style, is treasonable felony.

“Any action which is capable of undermining public trust and potent enough to threaten Nigeria’s democracy, stemming from malice, is unacceptable,” Okocha said.

Sowore had referred to Tinubu as a “criminal” and accused Wike of purchasing luxury homes in Florida with public funds. Okocha dismissed the allegations as false, describing Sowore as a serial peddler of propaganda.

“In every democracy, criticism is welcome, but what Nigerians must reject are deliberate lies, propaganda, and attempts to defame under the disguise of ‘activism’.

“These baseless allegations are nothing more than the bitter rantings of a man rejected by Nigerians at the polls and drowning in political irrelevance,” he said.

The APC chairman reminded Nigerians of Sowore’s past run-ins with security agencies, including forgery charges, cybercrime allegations, and the #RevolutionNow protests of 2019, which he described as an attempted insurrection.

“No genuine democrat calls for the violent overthrow of a legitimate government. Sowore’s actions then, and his continued incitement now prove that he is more of an anarchist and a psychopath than a patriot,” Okocha said.

He added that instead of amplifying Sowore’s claims, Nigerians should focus on what Tinubu and Wike have achieved in office.

According to him, the “Renewed Hope Agenda” has brought record government revenues, stabilised the naira, and advanced major infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar expressway.
