Anthony Joshua’s Driver Arraigned in Ogun Court Over Fatal Accident

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of Nigerian-British boxing star Anthony Joshua, has been formally arraigned in court.

It will be recalled that the command had earlier disclosed on Thursday, the 1st of January, 2026, that the driver was being held in custody in connection with the incident.

Providing an update on Friday, the 2nd of January, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement that the suspect has now been charged before the Sagamu Magistrate Court.

According to the police spokesperson, the court adjourned the matter until the 20th of January, 2026 for further proceedings.

The statement reads, “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.

Recall that Anthony Joshua on Monday involved in a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami, Latif Ayodele.”

The police said investigations into the incident are ongoing as the legal process continues.
