The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has released the list of cleared and disqualified aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.
According to the list released by the party, 33 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 65 others were disqualified from the exercise.
Notably, all 32 aspirants believed to be aligned with the camp of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara were disqualified.
In contrast, incumbent members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared to contest in the primaries.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chibike Ikenga, aspirants who purchased House of Assembly Expression of Interest and Nomination forms were advised to verify their screening status at the party’s state secretariat located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.
Ikenga further disclosed that appeals arising from the screening exercise should be submitted through the party secretariat.
According to him, the appeal process has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, by 10 a.m. at the party secretariat.
Meanwhile, the screening committee outlined several reasons for the disqualification of affected aspirants.

Among the reasons listed were nominations by persons who were not financially up-to-date members of the party, inducement and attempted bribery of committee members, submission of unsworn affidavits, and failure to present voters’ cards.
Other grounds for disqualification included failure to present party membership slips or cards, conflicting dates of birth, failure to confirm payment of membership dues by nominators, irregular membership numbers of nominators, inconsistencies in names across submitted documents, and insufficient nominators falling short of the required three nominations per ward.
The committee also cited invalid affidavits that allegedly failed to disclose material particulars relating to NECO certificates submitted by some aspirants.
The development is expected to further deepen the political tensions within the Rivers APC amid the lingering rivalry between supporters of Governor Fubara and loyalists of Wike ahead of the 2027 elections.
