The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for Lagos State’s Ward and Local Government Area (LGA) Congresses on Friday said it screened over 540 candidates for various positions across the state’s 20 local government areas.
Speaking after a party stakeholders’ meeting in Ikeja, the Chairman of the five-member screening committee, Mr. Nungji Salama, said the exercise had been conducted smoothly and that the committee was ready to oversee a seamless LGA congress.
“Today’s exercise is very germane to the success of tomorrow’s exercise,” Salama said, adding that the ward congresses had been conducted without incident. He urged aspirants who were not successful in the screening to be sportsmanlike, noting that consensus arrangements could be ratified where agreement existed.
Salama explained that 27 executives would emerge in each local government area and emphasized that the committee had made adequate arrangements for a peaceful exercise.

In his address, Lagos State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi praised the committee for its work, noting that the process was critical to deepening democracy and strengthening the party. He urged the successful candidates to view their emergence as a call to service and to work collaboratively, including engaging youth and women in party activities.
The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by key state officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro. As of Friday, the list of screened candidates for the 20 LGAs had not yet been posted at the party secretariat.
