The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released its preliminary schedule for the 2026 local government primary elections in Anambra State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the 29th of January, 2026, in Awka by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA confirmed that the timetable aligns with both its constitution and the calendar of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
According to the schedule, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will take place at APGA’s Awka Regional Secretariat from the 27th of January, to the 6th of February.
Screening of aspirants for chairmanship and councillorship positions is slated for the 7th of February to the 11th, covering all 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
Appeals arising from the screening process will be addressed on the 13th February, while ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates are scheduled for the 14th of February.

“The chairmanship primary election will hold on February 15 while appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on February 16, all in Awka,” the statement added.
APGA set the cost of chairmanship forms at N6 million and councillorship forms at N600,000, adding that female aspirants and persons with disabilities will pay half of these amounts.
The party stressed that all payments are non-refundable and noted that the dates could be revised if necessary.
Prospective candidates were urged to strictly adhere to all prescribed guidelines and electoral regulations.
