The Accord Party has confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke has been officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, the 29th of January, 2026, in Osogbo by its Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande. He explained that the confirmation followed the successful completion of all required documentation and submissions to INEC, which has now reflected Adeleke’s name as Accord’s flagbearer for the election.
Akande described the development as a major boost to the party’s preparations ahead of the poll.
“We are pleased to formally inform the good people of Osun State that His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has been successfully uploaded into the records of INEC as the Accord Party’s candidate,” Akande said.
The party noted that the confirmation has laid to rest concerns and speculations surrounding its nomination process ahead of the 2026 governorship election as scheduled by INEC.
According to Akande, the recognition by the electoral body validates the party’s adherence to established electoral rules and nomination procedures.
“The confirmation by INEC is an affirmation that the nomination process has been duly concluded in line with the requirements of the law,” the Accord chairman said.
