A Chief Magistrate Court Grade 1 sitting in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, has sentenced three individuals arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) to 10 years in prison for arms trafficking.
The court ruled that the sentence would be served without the option of a fine.
The convicts identified as Sakina Garba, Ali Gono, and Ibrahim Abdulrashid were arrested by DSS operatives between January and February 2026.
This was disclosed on Thursday in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
It was gathered that the suspects were apprehended following intelligence reports that exposed their plan to transport arms and ammunition from Bantaje village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State to a bandit kingpin who is still at large.
The suspects were intercepted along the Wukari–Jalingo road while attempting to move the weapons.
The arms and ammunition had been concealed inside two sacks of food items.
According to security sources, the suspects were found in possession of one AK-47 rifle, 984 rounds of 7.6mm ammunition, 105 rounds of 7.82mm ammunition, and 14 AK-47 rifle magazines. Officers also recovered three POS machines and ₦200,200 in cash from them.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a woman identified as Halima Haliru Umar, who was also arrested by DSS operatives, pleaded guilty before a Federal High Court in Abuja to illegally possessing 302 rounds of live ammunition.
During the proceedings, DSS operatives presented the recovered ammunition as evidence. Following her guilty plea, the presiding judge, Justice Haywa Joseph Yilwatda, adjourned the case until May 8, 2026, for sentencing.
Earlier in court, a DSS witness narrated how the suspect was arrested in Plateau State while carrying the 302 rounds of ammunition, which she was allegedly transporting to a man identified as Sani.
The witness also submitted the investigation report, the suspect’s statements, and the money recovered from her as evidence.
The operations highlight the DSS’s continued efforts to dismantle arms supply networks linked to banditry and terrorism across Nigeria.
