The Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade in Lokoja will hold its first annual Range Classification Exercise from March 30 to April 2.
Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, the Brigade’s spokesperson, said the exercise will take place at the Chari Maigumeri Shooting Range to improve marksmanship and operational readiness of officers and soldiers.
He added that the exercise will also assess the serviceability of the Brigade’s weapons in line with standard military requirements.

Abdullahi noted that the training is part of efforts to strengthen the Army’s capacity to address banditry and other security challenges in the region.
Residents of Shettima, Zango, and nearby communities were advised not to be alarmed by gunfire or troop movements during the exercise.
“Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the range area throughout the duration of the exercise for their safety.
The Army appeals to residents to help disseminate this information widely, including translating it into local languages to ensure adequate awareness,” he said.
