Arsenal Plans 60 Job Cuts In £7m Savings Drive

Arsenal are considering cutting about 60 jobs in a restructuring exercise expected to save between £5 million and £7 million annually, despite record revenue and recent Premier League success.

The proposed cuts were communicated to staff on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Some scouting and analysis roles are reportedly under review, while coaching and performance teams, academy staff, the Arsenal Foundation, community operations and security personnel are expected to be spared.

Consultations are ongoing, and the final number of affected positions remains uncertain.

The development follows Arsenal’s October 7 announcement that manager Mikel Arteta had signed a contract extension until June 2030. He led the club to the 2025-26 Premier League title, ending a 22-year wait, before Arsenal lost the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

For the financial year ended May 31, 2025, Arsenal recorded revenue of £691 million and a loss of £1.4 million, according to accounts filed at Companies House on February 27, 2026.

Commercial income rose from £218.3 million to £263.2 million, partly supported by a training-ground naming-rights deal with Sobha Realty, while operating costs climbed from £147.9 million to £200.8 million. Accounts for the 2025-26 season have yet to be published.

The proposed cuts would be Arsenal’s second major redundancy exercise since Kroenke Sports & Entertainment assumed full ownership. In August 2020, the club proposed 55 job cuts, citing the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest review aims to streamline operations and curb expenditure as Arsenal seek to sustain their domestic and European ambitions.
