Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is gearing up for major political gains as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
Atiku, who officially joined the ADC on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa State, made the assertion in a post on X on Friday, a day after receiving his membership card at a brief ceremony attended by supporters, party executives and local stakeholders.
The former vice-president also shared photos of the event, including one showing him holding a customised “Waziri 01” jersey presented to him during his registration.

Speaking on the party’s growing influence, Atiku noted that mobilisation efforts were ongoing across the country, stressing that the ADC was expanding its structures in key states.
“Yesterday, the ADC train made a stopover in Jalingo for the unveiling of the Taraba State secretariat of the Coalition Party. There’s no stopping the ADC; it is heading your way,” he wrote.
His comments come amid heightened political realignments as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
