Atiku Mourns Seven Journalists Killed in Gombe South Road Crash

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the death of seven journalists who lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Gombe South, describing the incident as a painful blow to Nigeria’s media community.

In a condolence message shared on his official X handle on Tuesday, Atiku said the journalists were returning from the wedding ceremony of a colleague when the tragic crash occurred, cutting short the lives of professionals dedicated to informing the public.

“These were committed journalists who met their untimely end while celebrating a moment of joy with one of their own,” he said, lamenting the devastating impact of the loss on their families and colleagues.

The former vice president extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased, as well as to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), noting that the incident has left the media industry in mourning.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed journalists and urged those left behind to draw strength and comfort during the difficult period.
