Atiku Sympathises as Anthony Joshua Hospitalised After Ogun Road Accident

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sympathy with British-Nigerian boxing star, Anthony Joshua, following a road accident that reportedly left the former heavyweight champion hospitalised in Ogun State.

In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Atiku said he stood in “full solidarity” with Joshua and prayed for his “swift and complete recovery,” describing the boxer as a symbol of strength and resilience.

“I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery. Anthony remains a symbol of strength and resilience, and I have no doubt he will come through this with grace,” Atiku wrote.

The former vice president also extended condolences to the families of two individuals who reportedly lost their lives in the accident, offering prayers for comfort and strength in their time of grief.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace,” he added.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred on Monday in the Makun area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State. Anthony Joshua was said to have sustained minor injuries and was subsequently hospitalised for medical observation.

While details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain sketchy, sources at the scene confirmed that two other victims died instantly.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from Joshua’s management team, but the incident has sparked widespread concern and an outpouring of goodwill messages from fans and public figures across Nigeria and beyond.
