AU Sets October Date for PPP, Stakeholders’ Summit 2025

The African Union (AU) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Stakeholders’ Summit will take place from Tuesday, October 28 to Friday, October 31, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to the AU Commission, preparations are already underway for the high-level gathering, which is expected to draw policymakers, investors, development partners, private sector leaders, and civil society actors from across the continent and beyond.

The summit, the AU said, will provide a platform for governments and businesses to deepen collaboration on priority areas such as infrastructure development, energy transition, digital innovation, food security, and cross-border trade.

With Africa facing pressing economic challenges, including limited financing for large-scale projects and the need to accelerate industrialisation, the PPP model is being positioned as a strategic tool to mobilise resources and expertise.

The Commission noted that the 2025 summit will build on the outcomes of previous engagements by setting out a roadmap for improving regulatory frameworks, de-risking investment, and promoting sustainable financing for major development initiatives.

Discussions are also expected to explore how to scale up intra-African investment and harness opportunities created by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the gathering will help unlock fresh commitments and strengthen confidence in Africa as a viable investment destination.

The AU stressed that closer cooperation between governments and private actors is essential to closing infrastructure gaps, boosting job creation, and ensuring inclusive growth.

Further details on the agenda, speakers, and participating organisations are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
