Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has reportedly been released from prison after an appeal court decision overturned his conviction.
His colleague Yomi Fabiyi announced the development on 14 November 2025, saying the actor had regained his freedom and had been “cleared by the appeal court.” Other associates also shared posts confirming that he had left custody.
Baba Ijesha was sentenced to 16 years in prison in July 2022 after a Lagos court found him guilty of sexual assault involving a minor.
The appeal court ruling, as reported by several media outlets, set aside key parts of that judgement, paving the way for his release.

The circumstances around the ruling have not yet been detailed publicly, and the Lagos State government has not issued an official statement.
Some outlets note that the development is based on reports from colleagues and insiders, while broader confirmation is still expected.
His release has already stirred strong reactions across social media, with supporters celebrating the court’s decision and critics questioning the handling of the case.
