Dachung Bagos, former House of Representatives member for Jos South-East Constituency, has criticised the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and ten other senior PDP members by the Umar Damagum-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking on The Morning Brief on Channels Television on Monday, November 17, Bagos said the disciplinary actions were conducted without following the party’s constitution and procedures.
“They are supposed to have been a disciplinary committee before suspending or even expelling someone [with] just a voice vote,” he said.
He emphasised that due process is more important than timing.
“The most important thing is: Was due process followed? Even if action is taken late, it must follow proper procedures. Without this, any decision is bound to create more problems,” Bagos explained.
On the party’s internal crisis, Bagos admitted he sees little hope for immediate resolution.
“We shouldn’t be political with the truth. I’ve always stood for honesty. For now, I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

The PDP, during its November 15 national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, expelled Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and national secretary Samuel Anyanwu for alleged anti-party conduct.
Other leaders expelled included Umar Bature, Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN; Mohammed Abdulrahman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austine Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah, George Turner, and Chief Dan Orbih.
Bode George moved the motion, citing the members’ conduct as inconsistent with the party’s interests, while the Bauchi State PDP chairman seconded it.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi then submitted the motion for a voice vote, which delegates approved.
However, governors of Adamawa and Plateau states, Ahmadu Fintiri and Caleb Mutfwang, did not support the expulsions.
Fintiri, who chairs the PDP 2025 Elective National Convention, said the move could worsen the party’s crisis, while Mutfwang noted the matter had not been discussed by the PDP Governors’ Forum or the National Executive Committee, adding that expelling key leaders at this stage was neither strategic nor helpful.
The latest expulsions have deepened divisions within the PDP, intensifying the ongoing internal power struggle and leaving the party at a critical juncture.
