Fresh waves of bandit attacks have forced residents of Tashar Mayanchi and more than 10 neighbouring communities in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State to flee their homes, leaving several villages nearly deserted.
The latest development was disclosed on Thursday by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X, where he revealed that the attacks persisted for four consecutive days, triggering a mass exodus of residents seeking safety.
According to him, over 40 people were abducted during the attacks and remain in captivity, heightening fears over the worsening security situation in the area.

Bakatsine warned that the continued displacement of rural communities could create an opportunity for armed groups to extend their operations toward the Zamfara–Sokoto highway, potentially cutting off more communities and worsening the humanitarian situation.
He described the affected settlements as once-thriving communities that have now been largely abandoned as residents flee for fear of further attacks.
The security analyst also questioned the pace of government intervention, asking how many more rural communities would have to be emptied before effective security measures are put in place.
The renewed attacks add to growing concerns over persistent insecurity in parts of Zamfara State, where banditry, kidnappings and violent raids have continued to displace residents despite ongoing security operations. Authorities had yet to officially comment on the latest incident as of the time of filing this report.
