Farmers in Ilali village, Katsina State, say they have been asked to pay ₦5 million to bandits in exchange for safety during this year’s harvest.
The demand, which locals described as a “peace levy,” is reportedly meant to allow them access to their farmlands without the fear of being attacked.
Security analyst Bakatsine, shared the development on X on Tuesday, September 9.

He wrote, “Bandits have reportedly imposed a ₦5 million levy on residents of Ilali village in Katsina State. Sources say the demand is framed as a fee for peace and safe harvest.”
As of now, authorities have not released any official statement on the situation.
