Armed bandits on Sunday carried out a violent attack on Wake village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing eight residents and injuring at least 20 others, several of them critically.
The assailants also abducted an unspecified number of villagers during the raid.
As of the time of filing this report, the community was holding burials for the victims while making arrangements to treat the wounded. The exact number of abducted persons has yet to be confirmed.

All efforts by First Daily correspondent to contact the spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, proved abortive.
