In a chilling wave of violence, suspected Lakurawa terrorists orchestrated a series of coordinated attacks on five villages in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, leaving at least 10 dead and many others injured.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama broke the grim news on the 10th of March, 2025, via his X handle, revealing intelligence reports that pinpointed the affected villages as Birnin Debi, Garin Nagoro, Yar Goru, Dan Marke, and Tambo.
The carnage unfolded on the night of 9th of March, 2025, at approximately 8:48 p.m., when the assailants descended upon the villages, unleashing chaos. They torched homes, firing indiscriminately at terrified residents.

Among the slain was 50-year-old Garba Maigari, while the identities of the other nine victims remain unknown.
“Several injured victims have been taken to Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for treatment, while the corpses of the deceased have been deposited for autopsy,” Makama reported.
In the wake of the massacre, security forces including Nigerian troops, police, and local vigilantes have been deployed to the embattled villages, with reports indicating that order has since been restored.
