No fewer than 15 farmers were reportedly gunned down when suspected bandits invaded Gakurdi village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Tuesday.
The latest Killings occurred some hours after Boko Haram fighters slaughtered over 40 farmers in Borno State.
It was gathered that the bandits attached and killed the farmers who were preparing their farms ahead of the rainy season.
Residents said the bandits, who were riding on four motorcycles, had targeted Gakurdi village, but on sighting the farmers, they opened fire and killed many of them.
According to a villager, “They came around 8:30 am today (Tuesday), using four motorcycles and started killing the people. Three were killed on the same farm and eventually it was discovered that up to 15 were killed on different farms.”
He said the attackers escaped before the villagers realised what had happened.
