Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad (OON), has defended the image of Northern Nigeria, describing it as a region defined by hospitality, warmth, and genuine human connection.
Ahmad made the remark in a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, where he challenged the negative perceptions often held about the North by individuals unfamiliar with the region.
He wrote,
“It’s hard to find anyone who has actually lived in the North and still holds a bad impression of the region. Most of the negative narratives come from people who have never set foot here, those who have never experienced life outside their small circles or villages. Anyone who has ever spent time in the North knows it is a place of warmth, hospitality and genuine human connection.”
Ahmad’s comments sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many users sharing personal experiences reflecting both the positive and challenging aspects of life in the region.
