The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appointed Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Friday S. Ebelo as the new Acting Zonal Director of the Commission’s Kano Zonal Directorate.
The appointment, approved by the EFCC Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, was announced on the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday. Ebelo succeeds Deputy Commander of the EFCC (DCE) Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, who had served in an acting capacity since July 2025.
During the handover ceremony at the Commission’s Kano office, Ebelo urged staff members to uphold the agency’s core values of integrity, diligence, and professionalism in the ongoing fight against economic and financial crimes.
He emphasized the importance of teamwork and accountability, noting that the Directorate must continue to strengthen its investigative and enforcement operations in the region.
In his farewell remarks, outgoing Acting Zonal Director Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad expressed appreciation to staff for their cooperation during his tenure. He encouraged them to extend even greater support to the new leadership to sustain the Directorate’s achievements.

Ebelo, a seasoned anti-corruption officer with over two decades of service, previously served as Acting Director in the Executive Chairman’s Office and Coordinator of Special Duties from April 2024, where he oversaw investigations, prosecutions, and inter-agency collaborations.
His earlier postings include Commander of the Makurdi Zonal Command (2021–2024), Zonal Head in Ibadan (2019–2020), and Gombe (2018–2019).
The EFCC described Ebelo’s appointment as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and leadership capacity across its zonal directorates nationwide.
