The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has appealed to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to increase the number of Hajj slots allocated to the state for the 2026 pilgrimage.
Director of Educational Enlightenment of the board, Malam Hashimu Sadiq, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Bauchi, noting that the current allocation of 2,600 slots would be insufficient to accommodate the growing number of intending pilgrims.
Sadiq said Bauchi successfully utilised all 2,516 slots granted for the 2025 Hajj, demonstrating strong participation and commitment among residents.
He added that more people have expressed interest in performing the 2026 pilgrimage, underscoring the need for additional slots from the Saudi authorities.
He disclosed that the board has finalised major welfare and logistical arrangements for intending pilgrims, including medical support and accommodation.

“Five houses have been secured close to the Holy Mosque to ensure easier access and comfort for pilgrims from the state,” Sadiq said.
He also stated that visa processing for intending pilgrims is underway, with immunisation the only remaining requirement before final departure procedures.
He urged pilgrims to remain calm and cooperative, assuring them of the board’s commitment to their safety, welfare, and a spiritually fulfilling stay in the Holy Land.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed on February 6 that March 20, 2026, is the final date for visa processing, with the Hajj expected to take place between May and June 2026.
