The Rescue Nigeria Alliance has criticised the recent inauguration and appointments under the “City Boys Movement,” describing the development as insensitive to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 16, National Chairman Dr Basil Nwolisa said the alliance was “appalled” by the initiative, calling it a “brazen display of arrogance and entitlement” that highlights the disconnect between the ruling elite and the wider population.
The group said the appointments announced alongside the movement’s inauguration sent the wrong signal at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship.
“It’s a slap in the face to the millions of Nigerians who toil daily to make ends meet, while a select few indulge in unbridled opulence,” Nwolisa stated.
The alliance urged citizens not to lose hope, promising to continue advocating for accountability and transparency in governance.
“To the poor and marginalised, we say: your cries hfave not fallen on deaf ears. We hear you, we see you, and we stand with you,” the statement read.

Nwolisa also addressed members of the City Boys Movement, warning against arrogance. “You may have the money, but you will not buy your way into the hearts of Nigerians. Arrogance will be met with resistance,” he said.
The organisation called on Nigerians to reject divisive tendencies and instead work toward national unity, equity, and good governance.
“We urge all Nigerians to reject this toxic ideology and join us in building a better Nigeria, where the rule of law, equity, and justice prevail. Enough is enough,” Nwolisa added.
The reaction follows the formal unveiling of the City Boys Movement, which has been described as recognising grassroots influence and political mobilisation skills.
The movement has played a key role in mobilising youth support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
