A prominent chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, Moses Oruaze Dickson, has applauded the successful conduct of the party’s inaugural national convention in Abuja, describing it as a major milestone that reflects the party’s growing strength, internal stability and readiness for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the convention in Abuja, Dr Dickson said the peaceful, transparent and orderly nature of the exercise demonstrated the maturity and democratic culture already taking root within the rapidly growing political platform.
According to him, the NDC has continued to distinguish itself through adherence to due process and internal democracy, beginning from its ward congresses to local government, state and zonal congresses, culminating in what he described as a highly successful national convention.
“The peaceful conduct of this convention is a strong reflection of the stability, discipline and democratic ideals of our party,” he said.
“From the ward congresses up to this national convention, the NDC has shown that it is organised, united and fully prepared for the 2027 elections.”
Dr Dickson commended the national leadership, stakeholders and grassroots supporters of the party for their sacrifice, commitment and determination in building what he called a formidable opposition platform capable of addressing the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
He urged members of the party across the country to remain steadfast, united and focused on the broader vision of national renewal, stressing that unity and discipline would remain critical to the party’s electoral success.
The Bayelsa politician, who is also a frontline aspirant for the Sagbama Constituency One seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, noted that the increasing popularity of the NDC across the country was a clear indication that Nigerians were embracing the party’s ideals of justice, equity, inclusion and national development.

According to him, the growing enthusiasm among party supporters at the convention further confirmed that the NDC was steadily emerging as a major political force ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dr Dickson also paid glowing tribute to the National Leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, describing the former Bayelsa State governor as “a living legend, political icon and statesman” whose commitment to democratic values and inclusive leadership had continued to inspire a new generation of politicians.
He said Senator Dickson had remained consistent in championing peace, national unity and democratic development, adding that his leadership had given the NDC a strong ideological foundation.
While calling on party faithful to remain peaceful and law-abiding, Dr Dickson urged members to sustain the momentum and dedication ahead of the party primaries and future political engagements.
“The high level of enthusiasm, unity and confidence among party members clearly shows that the NDC is positioning itself as a credible and formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape,” he added.
