Kwankwaso Backs Southern Presidency At NDC Convention, Praises Peter Obi, Dickson

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has endorsed the decision of the Nigeria Democratic Congress to zone its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria ahead of the next general election.

Kwankwaso made this known in a statement posted on Sunday via his official Facebook page following his participation in the maiden national convention of the party.

The former governor described the convention as historic, noting that it brought together party members from across the country in a strong show of unity and commitment to deepening democracy in Nigeria.

“I was delighted to participate in the historic maiden national convention of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC),” he wrote.

Kwankwaso said he fully supported the party’s decision to reserve its presidential ticket for the South for a four-year term, stressing that the move would promote fairness, equity, and national cohesion.

“I wholeheartedly endorsed the party’s bold decision to zone its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a four-year term, a move that strengthens national cohesion and equity,” he stated.

The former NNPP chieftain also commended the National Leader of the party, Senator Seriake Dickson, for organising what he described as a successful and impactful convention.

He further appreciated former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and members of the Obidient Movement for their presence and contributions to the event.

“I also extend my sincere appreciation to fellow party members, particularly my brother, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement, for adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion,” he added.

Kwankwaso expressed optimism about the future of the party and Nigeria, saying members remained committed to restoring hope, promoting unity, and building a better future for the country.
