The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has called on political stakeholders and undecided individuals to support Governor Hyacinth Alia, following Ambassador Terhemen Tarzoor’s declaration to endorse the governor’s re-election bid.

Benjamin Omale, APC State Chairman, made the call on Tuesday in a statement issued in Makurdi, praising Tarzoor’s decision as a demonstration of good conscience and commitment to state development.

Omale highlighted Alia’s achievements since assuming office, including massive road infrastructure projects, flyovers, underpasses, flood and erosion control interventions, improvements in health and education, and human capital development.

He said, “The league of endorsement and wide acceptance of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, who has reengineered governance in the state since the return of democracy in 1999, is attracting men of good conscience to build a better Benue, a job Ambassador Terhemen Tarzoor’s coming will help contribute.”

Tarzoor, a former speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and the 2015 Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, had earlier served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Namibia under the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to journalists, Tarzoor explained that his decision to support Alia was motivated by the visible transformation across the state and the governor’s commitment to service. He commended the administration for its infrastructural strides, urban renewal in Makurdi, prudent management of state affairs, diversification of the economy, and welfare programs for workers.

“Today, I find immense joy and reassurance in seeing the aspirations I held for Benue a decade ago reflected in the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia,” Tarzoor said. “The renewed hope, the smiles, and the palpable satisfaction among our people speak volumes of a government working with sincerity, accountability, and a clear sense of purpose.”

Omale applauded Tarzoor for joining the administration, describing it as proof that Alia’s government is delivering tangible dividends of democracy. He also pledged that the APC would extend support and fellowship to Tarzoor and encouraged collective efforts by individuals and groups across the state to foster development.

The endorsement is expected to strengthen Alia’s re-election campaign and consolidate support across key constituencies in Benue State.
