Former Big Brother Naija housemate Kess has opened up about what he described as the hidden difficulty of life after the reality show, arguing that the competition does not end when contestants leave the house.
Kess made the remarks in a post on X while reflecting on the experiences of former housemates and the intense struggle for relevance and opportunities that can follow their time on the show.
According to him, appearing on the popular reality programme may bring fame and public attention, but leaving the house often introduces a different kind of pressure.
“Big Brother makes your life harder. Winner or not, the moment you leave that house, you’re dealing with a version of life that is far more complicated than the one you left behind,” Kess wrote.
The former housemate suggested that contestants are often welcomed with encouraging words after the show, but those words do not necessarily translate into the opportunities many expect.
He further captured the reality of the post-show struggle in a brief remark: “Everywhere, words of encouragement. Baba, press money join.”

Kess also drew attention to the growing number of people who have passed through Big Brother Naija, noting that the show has produced 249 housemates across 11 seasons.
“Big Brother Naija has dished out 249 housemates in 11 seasons. Competition inside and outside the show,” he wrote.
His comments offer a glimpse into a side of reality television that is often overshadowed by the glamour, fame and excitement associated with becoming a housemate.
For many contestants, leaving the house can mark the beginning of another race — one for public attention, brand opportunities and continued relevance in an increasingly crowded entertainment space.
