The organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have announced Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha as hosts for the 12th edition of the annual ceremony.
The announcement effectively brings an end to IK Osakioduwa’s long-standing role as the show’s host.
Osakioduwa has anchored the AMVCA since its debut in 2013, steering the ceremony through 11 consecutive editions.
In a statement shared via Instagram, the organizers described the new hosting choice as a deliberate pairing that blends humor, storytelling depth, screen presence, and continental influence, saying it reflects “African excellence” on a global stage.
Bovi, one of Nigeria’s most recognizable stand-up comedians, is known for his sharp wit and strong narrative style on stage, while Mbatha, an award-winning South African actress, has built a reputation that extends beyond film into humanitarian and advocacy work.

According to the organizers, the duo is expected to deliver a show anchored on humour, cultural resonance, and pan-African appeal.
The nomination list for this year’s edition was released last month, with Gingerrr and The Herd emerging as front-runners, each securing nine nominations across major acting, directing, and technical categories.
To Kill A Monkey followed with eight nominations, while My Father’s Shadow, directed by the Davies brothers, garnered seven.
Veteran actress Joke Silva has also been announced as head judge for the 12th edition.
The 12th AMVCA is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
