Lagos Deepens Global Ties With Netherlands On Coastal Protection Drive

The Lagos State Government has strengthened its international cooperation efforts through a new partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands focused on coastal protection and infrastructure development.

The engagement was marked by the visit of a high-level Dutch delegation led by the Consul General in Lagos, Michael Deelen, as the state advances preparations for Invest Lagos 3.0, an investment summit designed to attract global capital and technical partnerships.

In a statement obtained from the Lagos State Government’s X handle on Tuesday, speaking during the engagement, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, reaffirmed Lagos’ ambition to remain a leading investment destination in Africa.

During the visit, Lagos State also received a Coastal Protection Pre-Feasibility Report presented by CDR International, an engineering firm specialising in coastal, river, and port infrastructure solutions.

The report is expected to provide data-driven guidance for the state in addressing long-term coastal erosion and environmental risks.

She described Lagos as a dynamic economic hub, noting that deliberate policy direction and international engagement continue to open new frontiers for investment, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Ambrose-Medebem added that Invest Lagos 3.0, scheduled for June 8–9, 2026, at Eko Hotel and Suites, will connect global investors with opportunities across infrastructure, technology, and sustainability sectors. The summit is being organised in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, highlighted the importance of Lagos’ waterfront and coastal assets in driving economic expansion.
