Bullied by Seniors, Hyderabad Student Ends Life

A 22-year-old student of Siddharth Engineering College in Hyderabad, Jadav Sai Teja, was found dead in his hostel room on the night of Sunday, September 21, 2025, after allegedly enduring bullying and harassment from senior colleagues.

Sai Teja, a final-year engineering student, reportedly recorded a video before his death accusing seniors of subjecting him to physical and psychological abuse.

In the recording, he alleged they forced him to consume alcohol at a local bar and compelled him to pay a bill of about ₹10,000.

He further claimed they demanded money from him, threatened him, and assaulted him on several occasions.

Police confirmed that his body was discovered hanging in his hostel room.

The video evidence, along with a complaint from his family and lawyer, Advocate Kishore, has prompted authorities to launch a formal investigation.

Officials say inquiries are underway to identify those involved and determine the full circumstances of his death.

The college had not issued an official statement as of press time. The case has renewed public outcry against ragging and harassment in higher institutions, with rights advocates urging stricter enforcement of anti-ragging laws and improved mental health support for students facing peer intimidation.

Sai Teja’s death has once again raised urgent questions about student safety and accountability in schools and universities, where incidents of bullying persist despite long-standing regulations banning ragging.
