By-Elections: ‘How Market Now,’ Presidency Taunts Atiku, Obi

The Presidency has taunted opposition figures Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi, former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, after the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured a landslide in Saturday’s by-elections.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga took to his X page on Monday, with a pointed jab: “How is the market now?”

The post carried a photo featuring Atiku, Obi, and other ADC members, leaving no doubt about the target of his remark.

The by-elections were conducted to fill seats left vacant by lawmakers who either passed away or resigned after the 2023 polls.

The APC claimed 12 of the 16 available seats, tightening its hold on the National Assembly.

The contests were spread across 12 states, though some accounts included Zamfara, where the race remains unresolved.

Final results showed APC with 12 seats, APGA with 2, PDP with 1, and NNPP with 1. The Zamfara outcome was declared inconclusive.
