Carrick Backs Man United’s Diversity After Ratcliffe Controversy

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has praised the club’s commitment to diversity and inclusion following controversial remarks by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe sparked outrage last week by claiming that the United Kingdom has been “colonised by immigrants,” remarks for which he later apologised if they had offended anyone.

The Football Association has confirmed that Ratcliffe will not face any charge over the comments.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Carrick highlighted United’s inclusive culture, describing the club as “globally impactful” and committed to equality, diversity, and mutual respect.

“Part of being at this club is we understand what it is like globally and the responsibilities we have,” he said.

“I have been here for a long time with various managers and staff from different backgrounds, and it is something I am fully aware of. I am proud of what the club stands for.”

Carrick also expressed confidence that Ratcliffe’s remarks would not affect the club’s multi-national squad. “We have got a really strong group, whether players or staff.

The boys have been in really good spirits this week. We are looking forward to the next game and are here to support each other,” he added.

The comments came ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Everton on Monday.
