CBI Digital Media, a subsidiary of the Baywood Group, recently launched the CBI News Mobile App, unveiling a new digital platform aimed at reshaping news creation, distribution, and consumption across Africa.
The launch event, held at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, brought together invited guests from the media, public relations, corporate communications, and technology sectors.
The app was introduced as a free, dynamic news platform designed to deliver credible, creative, and globally relevant African stories.
Speaking at the event, Emperor Chris Baywood Ibeh, Founder of Baywood Group and visionary behind CBI News, traced the origins of the initiative and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to setting new standards in African media. He said CBI News is driven by a vision to position itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital media transformation, with ambitions comparable to global broadcasters such as CNN and Al Jazeera.
A major highlight of the launch was a panel discussion themed “The Trust Crisis: Rebuilding Credibility in the Nigerian Media Landscape.” Panelists drawn from media, PR, and corporate communications examined the challenges of misinformation, declining public trust, and the need for ethical, accountable journalism in Nigeria’s evolving media environment.
The CBI News Mobile App is now available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The Nigeria and Entrepreneurship: Summit & Honors (NESH) Foundation has endorsed the app, encouraging Nigerians to explore the platform and support its growth toward global competitiveness.

The event also featured a solemn note as the Foundation announced the forthcoming burial of Late Lady Ezinne Eunice Ibe (popularly known as Black Indigo), mother of Emperor Chris Baywood Ibeh. She will be laid to rest on Friday, December 19, 2025, following a funeral service at Isu-Awaa Kingdom, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Foundation prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and extended condolences to Emperor Chris Baywood Ibeh and the entire Ibe family.
The statement was signed by Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Oju, Founder of the NESH Foundation, on Monday, December 15, 2025.
