Chaos as Kano Pillars Fans Invade Pitch After Equaliser

Sad scenes unfolded at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday as fans of Kano Pillars stormed the pitch following a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser by Shooting Stars in their NPFL Week 26 clash.

The tension-filled encounter, which had seen Pillars leading for most of the game, descended into chaos when the visitors struck late to level 1-1.

Enraged by the equaliser, a section of home supporters breached the security barricades, chasing the match referee and players off the pitch in protest.

Security personnel were forced to intervene to restore order and ensure the safety of the players, officials, and fans.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the recurring issue of fan violence in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Many observers have called for stronger sanctions and consistent sensitisation campaigns to curb crowd trouble and promote fair play in Nigerian football.

Football stakeholders have since taken to social media to condemn the act, urging the League Management to take decisive action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
