Legendary Nigerian musician and social activist Charly Boy has expressed profound disappointment with the state of the nation, describing Nigeria as a “sour nation.” In his distinctive style, the outspoken, Imo-born artist declared simply, “Nigeria don Sawa.”
Charly Boy was highly critical of the Presidency’s decision to include Reno Omokri, a man he views as a “clown and a bigot” among the official nominees for ambassadorial appointments.
He voiced incredulity that President Bola Tinubu would proceed to forward Omokri’s name to the Senate for confirmation, particularly given “the volume of bigotry against the Igbo that the former presidential aide has vomited in the last few months.”
The activist asserted that by nominating Omokri, the President is effectively giving an “endorsement of all the Delta-born politicians who have been ranting on social media,” and stressed that a President who genuinely cares about national unity would not make a decision “to make the clown an Ambassador.”
In a scathing post shared on his X, on Sunday, the 30th of November, 2025, Charly Boy wrote: “Perhaps Tinubu endorses the filth that issues from Reno’s mouth.”
He continued his condemnation of the nomination, labeling it a disgrace: “Ambassador Reno Omokri, that’s a spectacular mockery of this country. That’s a continental joke. His lies and general stupidity aside, with the volume of bigotry against the Igbo that Reno Omokri has vomited in the last few months, how can any one who cares about national unity make the clown an Ambassador.”

Charly Boy concluded that the move damages public faith in the country: “It is difficult to see hope for this country.” He then questioned the sense of belonging for a particular ethnic group under such a diplomat: “So how can any Igbo go to an embassy run by Reno with a sense of belonging or pride?”
He further characterized the move as baffling, reminding readers of Omokri’s past criticisms: “Some might say after all he had told the world that Tinubu was a drug baron. So we should see him for what he is, a moron. So why make such a hustling moron an Ambassador?”
Charly Boy called the President a “let down,” adding a final, potent critique: “Tinubu’s such a let down. Why wash our national dirty linens in public? Reno is such filthy underwear. Tinubu ought to have compensated him with some backyard job, but again who knows.” The musician suggested that the President might be deliberately endorsing Omokri’s prejudice: “Tinubu might be sending a message. Endorsing the bigotry that Reno embodies. It’s a deliberate gut-punch to national unity, the kind that makes ‘one Nigeria’ sound like a bad Nollywood script.”
He concluded with a resolute pledge: “Ambassador Reno…Tufiakwa! (God forbid)! I will never go that embassy.”
