Cher has dismissed claims she is set to marry her boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, ahead of her 80th birthday in May 2026.
The 79-year-old singer and her 39-year-old partner, who have been dating since Nov 2022, were at the center of speculation about their nearly 40-year age gap.
The report, published Dec 7, 2025, was denied the same day by Cher’s representative.
Cher has long brushed off criticism over the difference in age. She described the romance as joyful, praising Edwards as “beautiful” and talented.
In a November interview, she said outsiders don’t know what happens in her life and that the gap is irrelevant.

The couple confirmed their relationship on social media soon after they were first linked and made their red-carpet debut in Mar 2023 at the Versace Fall fashion show, showing clear affection.
Cher was previously married to Sonny Bono (1964–1975) and Gregg Allman (1975–1979) and has been romantically linked to Val Kilmer, Gene Simmons and Tom Cruise.
