Chinese actor and singer, Zhang Yiyang, was executed by firing squad following his conviction for killing his 16-year-old girlfriend.
He is the first Chinese celebrity to face capital punishment in this manner.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Xianyang, located in North Shaanxi Province, announced the development in July 2025.
The court report confirmed that Zhang was put to death on the 18th of December, 2024.
He was convicted for fatally stabbing his girlfriend in 2022, cutting her left carotid artery, jugular vein, trachea, and esophagus, which caused heavy bleeding and led to her death.
Their relationship reportedly began in September 2021.

Trouble started when the girl decided to end things after a disagreement.
After the attack, Zhang took her phone, dumped the knife and related objects into a reservoir in an attempt to erase evidence.
He then tried to end his life the next day at a hotel, but a hotel staff member found him and contacted the authorities.
Zhang was known for songs like I Only Care About People Who Care About Me, So Care About You, and Crying Man.
