COAS Orders Troops to Launch Major Offensive Against Terrorists

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, on Friday, the 7th of November, 2025, said the ongoing counter-insurgency push in the North-East has entered a time-sensitive stage.

Addressing personnel of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, he warned that the coming push against Boko Haram and ISWAP would shape the outcome of the wider campaign.

He told the soldiers that the military had reached a turning point in the war and that there was no room for setbacks.

“You have been training to defeat the terrorists that have been disturbing the North-East. This time, you are going to do it differently. All combat enablers have been provided. New platforms have been introduced, all to ensure that you succeed,” he said.

Shaibu also said this round of operations is in the hands of the present crop of soldiers, urging them to go beyond the records set by troops who served in previous missions at home and abroad.
