Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has raised concerns over the hefty service charges imposed by commercial banks in Nigeria.
Taking to his X handle, the father of two questioned the astonishing profits these banks continue to declare every quarter despite the country’s economic struggles.
He pointed out that many of these deductions seem exclusive to Nigeria and called for scrutiny.

Quoting his post, he wrote: “Where do banks get the trillions they declare as profits every quarter, even in a struggling economy? The small charges and debits on our accounts need to be challenged. Many of these fees are unique to Nigeria. Why is that? #BankingFees #Nigeria #Transparency #Shalom”
His statement has sparked conversations about the transparency of financial institutions and the impact of these deductions on everyday Nigerians.
