Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding the status of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following recent joint U.S.–Israeli military strikes near Tehran. However, as of the latest available information, there is no confirmed evidence that he has been killed.
Speculation intensified after Israeli media outlets, including Channel 12 (N12), cited unnamed sources suggesting there were “growing indications” that Khamenei may have been targeted during strikes on a compound believed to be linked to senior leadership near Tehran. Satellite imagery circulating in media reports reportedly showed structural damage in the area.
Some reports described what they characterized as an Israeli assessment that Khamenei might be “no longer with us.” However, there has been no formal confirmation from the Israeli government supporting such claims.
Iran Denies Reports
Iranian authorities have strongly denied the speculation. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in an interview with NBC News that Khamenei is alive. “As far as I know,” Araghchi said, the Supreme Leader remains safe. He added that most senior Iranian officials, including the president, were unharmed, though he acknowledged the possibility that one or two commanders may have been killed in the attacks.
Other Iranian state-linked media outlets echoed the denial, dismissing reports of Khamenei’s death as unfounded rumors. There have also been indications from Iranian broadcasters that the Supreme Leader may address the nation publicly in the coming days.

Social Media Speculation
Social media platforms have been flooded with unverified claims, including assertions that Khamenei has died, speculation about body doubles, and other unsubstantiated narratives. None of these claims have been independently verified by credible international or neutral sources.
No Independent Confirmation
At this stage, there is no independent confirmation supporting claims of Khamenei’s death. The absence of verified reporting from major global news agencies, combined with explicit denials from Iranian officials, indicates that he remains alive as of this publication.
The situation remains fluid amid the broader military confrontation between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Developments are unfolding rapidly, and further clarification may emerge as official statements and independent assessments become available.
This is a developing story.
